You all know I’m a huge fan of Chip and Joanna Gaines.  I’m also a big fan of Joanna’s cookbook!  Everyone wanted me to make them chocolate chip cookies, so when I found the recipe in the cookbook I decided to go for it!  I got to use my brand new Kitchen Aid hand mixer and love it.  Isn’t she beautiful?!

All mixed up and ready to taste some cookie dough!  Typically in the past I’d use recipes using both brown sugar and white sugar, but this recipe only calls for brown sugar.  I think it makes all the difference.  I posted the recipe below.

I always invest in really good Madagascar vanilla.  It really is worth spending the extra money on.

The cookies turned out to be soft, gooey, chocolaty yummy-ness! The recipe made four dozen and they were all gone before the end of the day!

They won’t be in the cookie jar for long!


2 1/2 c. flour

1 heaping tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp sea salt (I used table salt)

1 stick butter

2 c. light packed brown sugar

2 large eggs

1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

1 1/2 c. chocolate chips

Whisk flour, baking soda and salt.  If a separate bowl, mix butter and sugar until fluffy then add eggs and vanilla for 2 to 3 minutes.  Add flour mixture to wet mixture just until mixed.  Add chocolate chips and mix well.  Drop by spoonfuls onto parchment paper and baking sheet.  Bake on 350 degrees for 10-11 minutes until golden brown.  Let cool and eat them up!  Makes 40 cookies.
