It was my second time in the Bahamas but my first time visiting The Atlantis on Paradise Island. We stayed at the Royal Towers (pictured above). Over the past 20 years, they property has expanded, with more hotel accommodation options and swimming areas.
Opening the doors to the lobby was breathtaking.
Our room was a balcony room on the fourth floor facing the pools and ocean. Pictured above is the view from the balcony.
My ten year old wanted to hit all of the pools, while I wanted to drink pina coladas with my toes in the sand!
The Atlantis is an incredible resort. They call it Paradise Island and I can see why- it’s like it’s own little city. The views are incredible and the property is massive. Once we got settled in our room we began to roam the property. It was getting dark but the lights lining the walkways came on and it was a beautiful stroll. Pools were closed but we managed to dip our feet into a couple.
I made my way to the famed Atlantis Casino for some blackjack. I’m secretly a good blackjack player! I left with a few hundred more than I went in with.
The next day, we took short boat ride to another island to snorkel and swim with the pigs.
Swimming with the pigs!
The Royal Towers has the MOST incredible aquarium (seems to big to call it that) underneath the hotel. I could have spent so much time walking around looking at the sharks, rays, turtles, schooling fish…felt like we were “in” the ocean with them!
At the back of the resort, off of the casino is where the famous people arrive on their yachts (they say). I got a good picture of this amazing yacht. They were lined up all across the back of the towers.
There is no shortage of good restaurants and swimming pools. One of our favorite places to eat was Poseidon’s Table. It is the most incredible buffet style restaurant I could even imagine. Fit for a king! The chef who made me a homemade crepe told me that Michael Douglas had just visited there the week before and she made him a crepe too!
We drove to downtown Bahamas to the famous market where we shopped and had lunch at a local restaurant. The restaurant was well…we ended up leaving, I still can’t even talk about the place. Other than that, it was a great experience.
When you stay at Paradise Island, you don’t need to leave the island at all. Everything you could possibly need is right there, even babysitting when you need to hit the casino.
Good times. I hope you are inspired to vacation!
